The St Helens movie is more based around Johnston IIRC and drew some controversy as fellow academics deemed it an untrue account of his professionalism and demeanor. That said it was an ok movie for the time

I studied geology at school and they showed us both the St Helens movie and a documentary on the eruption. Harry R Truman was of the belief that the mountain wouldn’t kill him and his 16 cats. Just goes to show that humans can’t predict how an eruption is going to go and animals don’t actually have some sort of sixth sense for geomagnetic energy.
